WD44 Fishing in the Irish SeaYou are here: | homepage | about us |

We are Justin and Wendy and are living our dream. Our dream is to turn MFV Atlantis into MV Atlantis, a beautiful Motor Yacht and sail around the med, drinking Pimms, diving and generally living the high life. It seems a long way off right now but buying Atlantis was the first step.

Our story starts in December 2002 when we found MFV Atlantis WD44 for sale on the internet at At the time she was sailing the Irish sea, working as a Scalloper. She's a beam trawler with a transom stern. Her length is just under 25m. She has a Stork Diesel 660hp air-start engine.

In the Spring of the following year we went to see her for the first time in Kilmore Quay, Co Wexford. It was a beautiful place - the harbour there was full of fishing boats just like Atlantis. She was bigger than we had ever imagined but we remained undaunted and, if anything, even more determined to fulfil our dream.

Atlantis Moored at Port WerburghOnce we got her back to Blighty in July 2003 we moored up at the Residential Marina in Port Werburgh so that we could start work. Cleaning and organising together with sorting out the heat and power were the first order of the day. We we did seem to spend a lot of time relaxing on the back deck, going to bbq's on other boats, watching sunsets and the comings and goings of boats in Port Werburgh.

We're making sure we're taking loads of photos to keep an historical record of how work is coming along. You can see how we're getting on via the Gallery page our through our Diary section.
